About Shonan Research Laboratory
At the Shonan Research Laboratory, we are developing and improving radical polymerization resins, mainly for composite materials, and developing molding materials (intermediate materials) using them. In addition to resin synthesis, we also speedily evaluate the performance of composite materials to meet customer needs. In recent years, we have been focusing on advanced composite materials, civil engineering repair materials, and electronic materials, and conducting research and development to provide highly reliable materials.
From the selection of raw materials and synthesis to shipment, we manufacture materials under consistent quality control and deliver them to the market with the quality that meets the requirements of our customers.
Outline of Research
Development of intermediate substrates and liquid resins for CFRP
We are developing intermediate materials and liquid resins for CFRP. In addition, we are studying combinations with other materials such as carbon nanotubes and various core materials to further reduce the weight and increase in strength of CFRP. We are particularly focused on the fields of automotive, pressure vessels, space and sports.
Development of sustainable products
So far, we have sales result in unsaturated and saturated polyester resins using biomass raw materials and recycled raw materials. We are focusing on the development of sustainable products through the development of high-biomass products and the positive use of various recycled materials.
Development of materials for highly reliable components
Our resins and molding materials have a proven track record in applications such as electrical equipment, electronic components, automotive electrical components, and heat-resistant parts that require high reliability. We are developing materials for further high reliability.
